What is the purpose of this book? It feels like a fever, going on and on in a daze, under enchantment. Definitely did not make me feel good, or strongly anything.. The coincidence of this with the movie on Aaron Swartz, "The Internet's own boy" raises some interesting thoughts and makes one dislike Mr Norrell more. Pieces of it reminded me of my trip to Napoleon's tomb in Paris, like an egg in a golden cover, resting to eternity, untouchable and triumphant in glory.
What is interesting is creating a consistent imaginary world or an imaginary system that somehow fits into an existing world without glitches, or having thought through the glitches carefully. Eg. Magical justice courts rather than regular courts handling magic cases. Similar to financial courts of justice rather than regular ones, or consumer protection courts.
